Ok. There’s a large possibility that I may be drooling right now. Malcolm has created some absolutely unforgettable characters that I was able to connect with emotionally and mentally. Not to mention the fact that they are hot as sin. I love how she combined what it means to be a shifter with what it means to be living in the real world today.Relationships aren’t easy, but when you find ‘the one’ things just seem to fall into place. That’s the general premise behind this fantastic short story. I appreciated the fact that there was a plot on top of the romantic/erotic interlude. I enjoyed the way that the characters interacted on so many levels, actually taking the time to get to know one another. I also felt as if I’d really gotten a glimpse into the lives of the characters & what they really wanted.
My final thoughts? Bears, & Dragons, & Men, oh my! I really do need to get in touch with Madame Eve myself.

I love the One Night Stand stories - all written by different authors, but all of them full of hot sex and sweet love - my favorite type of books. So I jumped on this one when it came up and I am so glad I did.
Dary is a member of PRIDE which is a detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police force. He works out a lot, proud of his body, older, but still catches the eyes of men and women alike. It's not surprising, he's a bear shifter.
In contrast Rhoo is a romantic and wants nothing more than to be swept up by a bear of a man who would take him away from his mundane life...and then he meets Dary, whose animal thinks Rhoo is perfect for him from first sight. It wasn't only Rhoo's good looks that tempted Dary.
"The boy sounded like a cub who'd just found a big ole honeycomb and, despite being surrounded in bees, couldn't wait to dig into it."
You might have thought that age could be a barrier between them. Rhoo is only twenty seven while Dary is in his forties, but I think Rhoo put it best (or at least the author did) when he said, "He liked a man with miles and experience." Just love it.
The two men share some similar kinks and the bedroom scenes are hot and heavy - nothing too over the top, just in case you are worried, but definitely fan-worthy material.
Rhoo is an interesting character, as is revealed in the morning after. I really liked him. I adored Suzie too, although I am withholding judgement on Thomas - maybe he will get his own story one day and I can learn more about him then.
This story is only meant to be about the one night date, but it is true credit to the author that she had me so invested in her characters that I was really sad when Dary and Rhoo finished their date. I could have read a novel length feature with these two men - hint, hint.

Claiming His Cub by Kayleigh Malcolm is the first book in the RCMP Pride series and part of the One Night Stand series. I found for a first to a series this one is really good. As a one night stand book, it is okay.
Dary has been a Royal Canadian Mounty, he was assigned to the Pride Detachment of the RCMP. He is used to handling unusual cases, after all this what what Pride does. He is a bear shifter himself. He is really lonely and would like to come home and have someone there for him. He is a natural dominate. And he agreed to the one night stand because he hopes with Eve's reputation she can find his one. The one he can have for always.
Rhoo he has taken a lot of heat because of the books he loves, he has always been teased about it. He wants to fall in love and share everything with another person. Very romantic at heart. Also a natural submissive.
Over all there is a ton thrown into this book. I think if the author had scaled back somethings it would have flowed better for me. But it is a great start to a series. As for a 1NS it is a hard read for that. Most of the 1NS books are easier to read than this one, so on that scale just be prepared to read and get absorbed in the story. Over all I loved this one, I would love to see more from this series in the future.

It's a good book, I like how your not exactly sure what Rhoo is until later in the novel. I think the suspense is great
What a wonderful story, sadly not nearly long enough, but a great little read nonetheless, loved every sexy, funny moments of it and so will you if you enjoy animal transformations.
Not terrible but not very interesting either. They meet, they're attracted, brief drama, let's be together forever. And there was not nearly enough time spent on the most interesting aspect of Roo.
This was a short read but a good story I wish that there was more background and history with the characters. But all in all I enjoyed what I read of the story maybe Ms Malcolm will consider doing a follow-up that adds more to this story.
